How it works

What the numbers mean.

  • Spare load

Sanctioned load minus the safety margin, minus the highest demand your site already uses. This is the room left for chargers running at full power together.

  • Where to find the numbers

Your electricity bill shows the sanctioned or contracted load and the recorded maximum demand. Use the highest MD from the last 12 months, usually in summer.

  • Not enough spare load?

The options are a load enhancement, a separate EV connection with an EV tariff, or smart load management that shares power between chargers. Read our guide to DISCOM approvals.

  • Apartments

For gated communities, the common-area connection and each flat's own connection are different. We look at both before recommending shared or individual chargers.
