Chargers that are not maintained lose uptime and earnings. Here is what a good annual maintenance contract should include.
Engineering note
The manufacturer's warranty covers defects in the charger itself for a set period. An annual maintenance contract (AMC) covers the regular care of the whole installation: charger, cables, panel, earthing and protection. You need both to keep a site running.
Visual inspection of chargers and cables, cleaning of filters and vents, connector and cable condition, tightness of terminals, earthing and insulation checks, protection device tests and software or firmware updates. Dust and heat in South Indian summers make filter and cooling checks especially important for DC chargers.
Ask how quickly a technician will reach your site after a fault is reported, and whether common spare parts are kept nearby. For a highway or fleet site, every hour a charger is down is lost income.
Networked chargers can report errors and offline status before customers complain. A good AMC includes someone watching those alerts and acting on them.
