EV charging for delivery, cab and logistics fleets
A practical field perspective.

How fleet operators in Hyderabad and South India can size depot charging around shifts, routes and growth.

Engineering note

Decisions that improve delivery.

01

Size charging from the duty cycle

List each vehicle type, its daily kilometres, battery size and when it returns to the depot. A delivery fleet parked overnight for ten hours can run mostly on AC chargers. A cab fleet that charges between shifts needs DC charging to turn vehicles around quickly.

02

Not every vehicle needs its own charger

With good scheduling, several vehicles can share one charger across the night. Charging management software can spread the load so the depot stays within its sanctioned load and avoids peak charges. This often cuts the electrical upgrade needed.

03

Plan the depot layout

Mark bays so drivers can park and plug in without reversing across lanes. Keep cables protected, provide lighting for night shifts, and leave room for expansion. Ducting for future chargers is cheap when the floor is open and expensive later.

04

Track energy and cost per vehicle

Choose chargers that report energy per session and per vehicle. That data shows the real running cost per kilometre and helps you plan the next batch of EVs and chargers.

05

Grow in phases

Start with the vehicles you are adding now, with the power and civil work planned for the next phase. APP infra plans and builds fleet depots end to end, with AMC support after switch-on.
